Think, Be, Do

“The man doesn’t know that there is a snake underneath. The woman doesn’t know that there is a stone crushing the man. The woman thinks: “I am going to fall! And I can’t climb because the snake is going to bite me! Why can’t the man use a little more strength and pull me up!” The man thinks: “I am in so much pain! Yet I’m still pulling you as much as I can! Why don’t you try and climb a little harder!?”

Moral being, you can’t always see the pressure the other person is under; and the other person can’t always see the pain you’re in. This is life! Whether it’s with work, family, feelings or friends, we should try to understand each other. Learn to THINK differently, BE differently, DO differently. Be kind to people. Everyone we meet is fighting their own battle.

Vast Interactions

When we fail to foster a high quality interaction, we lose out on the benefit of discourse between people who see things differently. The result is a lack of deep understanding, fewer creative options, diminished commitment to act, increased anxiety and resistance, and reduced morale and well being.

What does mankind mean to you

What makes America truly great is keeping your word, looking out for folks, it’s making sure that you’re not so busy that you can’t help nobody.   -Rick Rigsby

Undulate your thinking. Don’t let the past be weathered by the present.

The other day, I was at a meeting in Ft Worth, TX and toward the end we got on the topic of motivational speakers. Rick Rigsby was recommended to me and let me tell you, the first video that I watched has some moving words that I feel needs to be heard by everyone. It brings back the values and morals of what I remember growing up. This is the year 2018 and times have definitely changed, but if this speech or any like it could get to the young ears of our future (and many adults that need to hear it), just maybe we could see an improvement in the way situations are handled in today’s age. If they could hear it to understand, and not to just listen, maybe it would resonate and new sense of well being, attentiveness, and motivation to lift someone else up. It doesn’t matter if you are white, black, or green. Democrat or Republican, Man or Woman. From the north or from the south. Young or old, rich or poor… The values of what American was built on and the direction our late ancestors built the path for us needs to be instilled and taught to our young generations. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. So take a stand for whats right, teach and show young and old, have respect, say please and thank you, hold the door open for someone, lift up with words, and do what you say. Make a positive difference in someones life!

PS. What you do when you think no one is watching, is just the thing that will show you just how motivated you are to be the positive in this world.

*Please take the time to watch!

Undulate

Desiderata, a poem for many.

This poem, I came across while doing some inspirational reading in some down time. It seems to have several phrases and key points that might strike a small cord with you as it did me. I hope you enjoy this wonderful written piece by Max Ehrmann.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.

Leaf, forever changing

Leaf, what does it mean to you.. Something that is pretty? A unique personality with every shape? Something that grows and dies with the seasons? A leaf is all of the above for most, but for some it’s more. A leaf can represent a moment, the decor in a beautiful room of a house or business, or even a sign of soothing peace from an opened mind. One that can see a leaf as a life cycle, can see life as a cycle of seasons. I see a leaf on the outside as part of a tree or shrub. But when actually thinking about the meaning and what it can represent, it goes much deeper. A leaf, like us all, we are sprouted into this world in one season. We start out as a small little vibrant dancer in the wind, coming from one branch, that has many roots. The root usually determines where we start, what we look like, how we perform in the seasons of life. And like the leaf, there comes many changes, trials, and tribulations throughout our life. As the leaf grows, it does not always think about what could happen or when. That squirrel, it runs right over it like it was nothing. The caterpillar, so pretty it may be, just walked on it and ate its heart. Or the little ladybug that takes shade under it and relies on it for protection. The leaf sees many days of perfect weather with beautiful sunshine. And days of clouds, rain, and frightening thunderstorms. As it grows, the leaf gets bigger and takes on its own form of life; creating shade, protection, and food. Each season comes and goes, with the leaf holding a purpose in each one. After most of its life, you can start to see just how beautiful the leaf is. The colors it has been hiding begin to shine and take the show. You realize just how much the leaf has done over the course of its life, and now knowing its coming close to its end, you just want to stop and spend time looking at it. Acknowledging its beauty, how the color of the leaf reflects and contours with the backdrop of a clear blue sky or the brilliant hues of a sunset. Just taking in the few extra moments you have to experience its beauty. Before long, it starts to fade. Wilt a little. Become brittle and start to shrivel. All before that one day it takes its last drink from the branch, letting go it flies away with a gust of brisk air. Through the air, flowing with the wind of life it soars. The seasons of life for the leaf are over.. In the very short moment of letting go till now, with the leaf resting on the ground, it will soon return to where it once was within the life producer we call,  Earth.

Memories Inside Us

We define our lives by our memories. Who we are on a particular day, is the result of memories from everyday before. But memories are elastic, malleable or easily influenced, and often curious angles of life. Reflecting back, I think of my own life as the sum of my memories; like any man, I as well have done many things that I have guilt for. And yes I feel pain from so many things, the damnedest of things… Now memories of true happiness, that’s what makes life worth living but they are so often lost in the sea of bad ones! We are nothing more than the memories we keep. Memories of overwhelming joy, profound sadness, gratitude, pride, grief, despair, remorse, passion, regret, regret.. regret…. But the strongest memories we carry with us are the ones of giving, love, and finally… hope. We all go through life every day writing a script in our mind as to how life is and how it should be. Past experiences create a perceived forecast of how we believe our next second, day, or year should be. But we always forget that we cannot predict that next second or moment in life until in becomes the present, and then the past, which then is hardwired to a memory and soon will become the next forecasted belief. So don’t let the bad memories hold you hostage to whats in front of you, what could be, or what is the reality of possibly a beautiful unplanned reset in life. Life, live it with love!

Now I want you to think of a memory, first thing that comes to mind. Go on, close your eyes….
